Inverness City was recently voted as the happiest place to live in the UK in 2024 after research was carried out by hospitality agency Accor.
Accor announced the results, based on new data released by the Office for National Statistics’ personal wellbeing study, in summer 2024 claiming that the slower, soft-paced lifestyle and easy access to nature had put Inverness in the top spot beating cities across the whole of the UK. This follows a rise in the social media trend ‘#softlife’ with the public valuing a more relaxed and calm lifestyle as well as being attracted to the rich heritage and Highland culture.
With a happiness rating of 7.83 out of 10 Inverness claimed the top spot as it is combines the ease of city living with great restaurants and events whilst retaining the friendliness and charm associated with the Scottish Highlands.
